The iconic Sigma Mattress was founded by Alex Pavlenko in Agawam, MA. A Ukrainian-born immigrated who came to the US in 1989 and immediately started working at a mattress company. Ambitiously striving for a better life, Alex put in sweat, blood and tears into a career that made a life for him in America. He was a Christian man whose sense of humor brought smiles to everyone long before anyone knew that he would be the icon behind a luxurious mattress that beat the competition in comfort, quality in price.
Alex made a decades long career working at a mattress factory. 20 years to be exact. But in 2008, he left his high-paying position to give back to the community. Knowing that an average person spends nearly half their life on a mattress, and most don't have a good one.
Serving Feeding Hills, MA
The Slavic community in Springfield, MA areas, which included West Springfield, Agawam, Feeding Hills, Westfield, Chicopee, Ludlow, Longmeadow, East Longmeadow, Wilbraham, Hadley & beyond, had homes populated with Sigma mattresses. Folks from settled immigrants and new ones loved the Sigma Mattresses.
Individual Pocketed Coils
One of the greatest features of a Sigma mattress is the individual pocketed coils. Technology that changed the mattress industry. Extremely expensive, yes, but worth every penny. From the experience acquired in the previous mattress company, Alex learned all the complaints customers had and invented the solution. Many solutions actually. While all are trade-secrets, it's little things like that that led to building a perfect mattress. So when you purchase a Classic Sigma Mattress or go with our Organic Mattress, know that every inch of that beauty was made with love and the result of decades-worth trials and errors.
Soft, Medium or Firm
Because every sleeper has a preference, the Sigma Mattress can be made soft, medium or firm. However, it's not as easy as one thinks when it comes to creating the three. The individually pocketed coils remain the same, but the padding on top needs to be changed. Keep in mind, the height of the mattress needs to be maintained while doing so. It's little things like this that needed brains and now is history.
